Bachelor of Disaster management

Courses leading to the Degree of Bachelor of Disaster Management (Honors) extended over four academic years and divided into 8 semesters conforming to the University Rules and Regulations. The course of study is an integrated of carrying a total of 137 Credits (Marks-3850). All the courses are compulsory for each student.

The Bachelor of Disaster Management (BDM) is a four years duration and divided into 8 (eight) semesters. Each semester is of 19 weeks, of which

  • 15 (fifteen) weeks for class teaching
  • 1 (one) week break for preparation, and
  •  3 (three) weeks for holding the semester final examinations

Professional Master in Disaster Management (2 years)

The Masters Programme is designed mainly to share disaster related comprehensive knowledge to the graduates of different disciplines, GO and NGO professionals, academics and researchers. The objective of the programme is to create a cadre of trained person-power by developing skills and creative judgment in an individual for effective management   of   disaster related issues   through   a   multidisciplinary   approach. The degree to be awarded by the University of Dhaka has been named as MDM (Master of Disaster Management). MDM in Disaster Management is of 2 (two) years duration, divided into 4 (four) semesters. Each semester is of 19 (nineteen) weeks: of which 15 (fifteen) weeks for class teaching, at least 1 (one) week break, and 3 (three) weeks for holding the semester final examinations.

Postgraduate Diploma in Disaster Management

Course leading to the Post Graduate Diploma in Disaster Management in the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies, University of Dhaka covers 24 weeks over half academic year. The programme consists of 30 credit hours and divided into 8 (Eight) courses including field research and submission of research report. Each course covers at least 25 lectures.

 

The PGDDM programme is designed mainly for the processionals and academicians who are involved in the areas of disaster and climate risk reduction, disaster management, development activities and related issues. The programme is international standard and the medium of instruction of the programme is English. After the completion of the PGDDM programme a student will be awarded with a Certificate of 30 Credit hours.

Certificate Programme in Disaster Management

This is indeed Five Weeks Professional Certificate Programme on Disaster Management. Course leading to the Post Graduate Certificate Course in Disaster Management in the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies, University of Dhaka covers five weeks. The programme consists of 08 credits hours and divided into 4 (Four) courses including field research and submission of research report. Each course covers at least 25 lectures. The Post Graduate Certificate Programme is designed mainly to share disaster related comprehensive knowledge to the graduates of different disciplines and professionals, development partners, policy makers, government officials, NGO professionals, academics and researchers.
